Welcome to Abbey Kay — a place to be filled with encouragement through real life struggles, a source to ethical fashion & trendy finds, & a guide to my life in Reno, NV.

A few things about me: I desperately want others to know they are seen, heard, & not alone. I believe you should love your body at every stage in life. I think finding a balance in everything you do is more important than striving for perfection. I will always drink black coffee & never not have black nails. I try my best to be open, honest, & real by showing up for others.

Always know that life is unpredictable, but it’s still worth experiencing every up & down it has to offer.

I’m so glad you’re here & can’t wait to connect!

  • monday morning encouragement: girls, support girls

We are the root of our own jealousy. We are the stem of our own self-doubt. We use the poisunous nectar called comparison which makes our beautiful petals fall out. We destroy our selves from the bottom up because we think that we have to be anything other than who we are.  We are girls.…

  • abbey kay & tribe & true: an interview with owner kelly keane

A few months back I did a winter photoshoot for my birthday with my friend Taylor. We chose a unique handwoven blanket as one of our main props. The imagery we created came out beautiful and the owner of the blanket shop took notice. She reached out to inquire about featuring our images on her…

  • monday morning encouragement: when life seems great

When life seems great, & your sadness has somehow drifted off no where to be found, it’s okay to be happy.  If you’ve been reading for awhile then you know how tough of a year this has been for me. The person where I found the root of so much joy in my life had…

  • the opening of west elm in reno

Reno is known as the biggest little city in the world. We’re a smaller scale town with so many people, yet you run into somebody you now everytime you leave the house. It’s a blessing & a curse quite honestly. But this little city has gotten just a bit bigger with the grand opening of…

  • monday morning encouragement: just roll with it

I honestly don’t know how we’re already well into August by now with summer ending just around the corner. Everyone always says time goes by so quickly, but this is the first year where it seems like it’s actually true. I feel like last Monday was just yesterday, the 4th of July was last week,…

  • monday morning encouragement: things aren’t always black & white

I’ve learned a lot about myself this year. Learned a lot about people too. I’ve learned that the way you were raised shapes the core of who you are, & sometimes that is completely unchangable.  I’ve learned that you can’t change the way other people see or views things no matter how much you wish…

  • monday morning encouragement: when things change

I feel like I’ve been reliving the same day over the past few days. My beautiful first niece was born & instantly my world seems to revolve around her.  She’s taken over my camera roll, filled my thoughts, & occupied any spare time I have. A time when change fills you. I feel like I’ve…

  • a letter to my niece

Dear Raegan, You’re finally here. You are born! Welcome to the world kid. This day has been long awaited, you have no idea! You’re my first niece & donut tell the future others, but you’ll probably forever be my favorite. Mainly because your mom & dad are my favorite, but I’m sure they’ll get over…
