Have you ever come to a point in your day, week, or life, & questioned what you are doing with your time? I know we’ve all been in place at one point in our lives & thought about how we aren’t where we wanted to be, or we aren’t where we want to be anymore. This question is tough to deal with sometimes because it can come in the middle of a chaotic moment & then pass by because we don’t really believe it. But sometimes this question comes in & out of our thoughts over the course of weeks & this is when we need to listen to it most. Hear me say this: it’s okay to not like where your life is, it’s okay to wish you had done something sooner, but don’t ever be embarrassed with where you’re at, just work hard to change it.
Wake up calls happen at different times for all of us. When were you first woken up by the truth that saving money is beneficial? Or how about the moment you realized that health & fitness are actually good for you? What made you realize that growing up is going to change you, but also reveal you at the same time? We all have these pivotal areas in time in our lives where a light bulb gets screwed in all the way & we can see more clearly. There’s nothing wrong with seeing the world the way that you do, & there’s no reason to apologize for the timing of when your sight comes.
Do you remember a specific moment in your life that you can look back on & remember that you used to dream a different dream? I do. I used to dream of going to college, playing softball throughout high school, being married & having kids before I turned 25 & being settled into my role as mom. I’m 25 now. I did’t go to college. I didn’t play softball all four years in school because I got a job instead. I’m not married, I don’t have kiddos, & I’m living a dream that I truly never even knew existed. Sometimes it takes living life in order to know where it is you actually want to be. Sometimes, we don’t even know dynamics of this world exist until later down the road. Sometimes we don’t understand life, ourselves, & this world until we’re face to face with new situations we never knew we’d have to live.
I say this all the time, but we can’t predict the future. We can’t say when or how things will happen. We can’t force life to evolve if we’re choosing to not let ourselves grow & change with it. Today might look different than the tomorrow’s you once dreamed of living. That’s okay. Don’t be embarrassed or upset that you’re no there yet. Maybe there doesn’t exist for you because you’re looking in the wrong direction. Stop looking to others to define who you’re supposed to be. Your journey is different than theirs & it would look different too if you tried to live it just like them. Don’t worry about the things you cannot control because worrying gets us no where, & remember, there is where we’re trying to be.
Don’t be afraid to make changes. Even if they’re last minute, even if they seem crazy, they will be worth it. You have so many days to try over again with a brand new perspective. Are you going to let the same you ensue for the rest of eternity, or are you going to try & discover the limits that will ultimately shape you?
Always know that life is uncertain, & all we can do is keep pushing in order to face what lies ahead.
