Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’ve been going unnoticed. I have this heavy thought that everything I’m doing or saying has been unseen, unheard, & therefore unimportant. When ideas like these start to sprout up in my head it makes me not want to even continue on my creative endeavors. I’m telling you this because I think we all struggle with these thoughts from time to time. We all have those moments when we just don’t feel good enough. I know this isn’t true because I get the likes & the comments, & the emails, & the verbal praise telling me the opposite. But what are we to do when we have these moments of self-doubt & failure? How do we press on knowing that these are lies & that we are in fact doing well, doing enough, & that we are not invisible & are important?
Here’s my advice: just be you.
When you feel like that blogger is doing better than you are…
Just be you.
When you feel like your photos aren’t good enough because they don’t look like everyone else’s…
Just be you.
When you feel like your work is invaluable to some…
Just be you.
When you feel like you’re starting to fail those around you because of their expectations…
Just be you.
When you feel like you aren’t meeting others standards…
Just be you.
When you realize that you are only human & that gravity allows us to fall short sometimes so that we know the feeling of what it’s like when dreams & aspirations carry us the whole way through…
Then, you can finally just be you.
Life is hard & expressing ourselves through our work is even harder. If you are staying true to who you are & what you believe then you are doing what’s important, & trust me, it’s being seen & heard. We all have something we set out to accomplish the moment we started our dreams, remember that when those wretched thoughts creep in. You have great things to say, amazing things to show, & creativity to reveal.
Just be you, & you’ll get there before you know it.
Always know that what you’re doing is important & worth while when you choose to just be yourself in the process.
