Let’s talk about my everyday make-up routine! I get compliments when I’m out & about all the time on how my make-up looks pretty. Not me or my face, but my make-up! Haha cracks me up. Anyway, I thought I’d share with y’all what my basic make-up routine is for most days & the products I use. Honestly I don’t buy expensive make-up because I like trying out new brands all the time & switching around products. I usually buy my stuff at Ulta because they have a great rewards program & so many deals like buy one get one 50% off & that is so worth it to me. But I do splurge on the good stuff every now & then. So here’s a step by step picture tutorial with tips on how I do my everyday make-up!
So after I moisturize my face I start out with my foundation. I’ve currently been loving this FIT me! shine-free foundation stick by Maybelline in 220. I apply it with a triangle sponge applicator all over my face. I just love the way it blends in with my natural skin tone so well & it seems to last me quite awhile because I don’t slather it on. Thin layers work best.
Next, I apply my all over face powder foundation. I choose between my three favorites by REVLON, which are REVLON Colorstay, REVLON Photoready, & REVLON Nearly Naked, all in similar colors. Today, I used the Colorstay because I love it’s applier. I used to use brushes but I didn’t feel like it covered very well so now I use the sponge type ones. These are great powder foundations & I’ve been using them for the past few years & have no desire to make a switch.
After foundation, I apply bronzer to my cheek bones! I used to wear deep rosey blushes but opted out of those about a year ago & chose to stick to just bronzers because I love the more natural color they give. I use my bareMinerals bronzing brush & a bareMinerals warmth color to apply to the apples of my cheeks. But lately I’ve been loving the Maybelline FIT me! bronzer in deep bronze. I definitely switch around in cheek colors depending on season.
Now onto the brows! Yes, I fill mine in. Yes, some days I go overboard & make them too dark & big. But I still don’t think completely natural brows look better than filled in ones. Even if it’s just a light shading in that you do, it will still look better than leaving them all alone, I promise! I’ve used pencils & mascara type stuff, to gels, & even eyeshadow to fill in my brows. But powder has been my ultimate best friend in finding the perfect way to get the shape you want. I’m currently using NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Taupe/Ash. The color works great for me & it lasts a really long time. I start towards the middle & work my way out. Filling it in can be tricky, but it gets easier with practice & patience.
Once my brows are all filled in I prime my eyelids! I’ve been using for quite some time Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay in Sin tone. I love the shimmer it leaves behind & the bottle lasts forever. I just squeeze out a pen point size amount on my finger and apply it all over the surface of my eyelid from eyelashes to brow bone, and inner eye to outer. This product works great!
Now, I’ll start on my lashes! For the longest time I’ve been using & loving Full ‘N Soft Waterproof Mascara from Maybelline in Very Black. The brush runs great through my long eyelashes & doesn’t cling. I normally apply a few layers both top & bottom before I head out the door. I just make sure each coat dries before I apply the next. ***TIP – I just read to make your mascara last longer, add a few drops of eye drops when it seems to be drying out because they’re still some left in there, it’s just losing moisture. Deff will be trying that out on my next “empty” bottle.
I do my eyeliner next. Again, for a long time I’ve been using Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen in Blackest Black. I love liquid eyeliner because it helps a TON when I do my cat eyes. I am known for my cat eyes, it’s honestly just not me without em.
So many pictures, I know. But I’m doing details here ladies! I start with the top liner, then the bottom. And then I go back to the top and draw on my wings. My wings look different everyday depending on how much time I have to do them. The less time I have sometimes the better they look. Sometimes I could have hours to get ready & those are the days I keep messing up. Oh the joy of being a girl! I challenge you try try wings, maybe not big ones at first. But they are an adorable look & I believe every girl can pull them off!
I just recently got onto the Naked Palette by Urban Decay bandwagon & night Naked2. The colors are just too perfect & the color stays put & they last FOREVER! I normally apply the shimmery shadows just once all over on my eyelid above my eyeliner wing all the way to the inner corner of my eye & below. I want to start actually blending colors but ain’t nobody got time for dat!
But for now, one color looks good & good is good enough for me! It’s the perfect quick look! I can’t wait to get Naked3 as soon as I can afford too! Soon hopefully!
Almost done, I promise! Next I curl my eyelashes because when I do they soar baby! I also add a few more layers of mascara at this point to give them a ton more body. I like them as full as they can be!
Some days when I’m all done with my make-up I’ll use my Urban Decay all nighter make-up setting spray. I feel like it works, but sometimes I feel like it doesn’t. It may just be a head game. Way to go name brand companies!
To top it all off I apply a lip color. I go back & forth between wearing lipstick or just tinted lip color balms. My favorite lipsticks are by REVLON & my favorite tinted lip color balms are by NYX. You can read more about that here. I chose this color because it went well with my outfit, which is weird because I hate matching things! And…
that completes my everyday look! I’m honestly looking to switch it up right now because I just feel immune to it. So maybe I’ll be doing an update look very very soon! Hope you enjoyed this (very long) post! I’d love to know what products you are currently loving! Let me know below, I love talking make-up & beauty!
